Paying attention

For the first time ever, I noticed that the light shifts significantly in August. Maybe I knew this at the age of six when I had to relocate my baby dolls’ tea party because the maple tree moved its shadow. But, it has been a long time since I sat quietly observing the light dance across my backyard for multiple days in a row.

You know what else? Cardinal vine flowers sleep at night. I know, I’ve been watching.
